Russia is increasing and modernizing its nuclear arsenal, U.S. Protection Secretary Lloyd Austin stated on Friday, at a time Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly recommended he might use nuclear weapons to guard Russia.
“Russia can also be modernizing and increasing its nuclear arsenal,” Austin stated at a ceremony for the incoming commander of U.S. Strategic Command, which oversees the US’ nuclear arsenal.
“And because the Kremlin continues its merciless and unprovoked battle of alternative in opposition to Ukraine, the entire world has seen Putin interact in deeply irresponsible nuclear sabre-rattling,” Austin added.
