Emergency responders evacuated a JetBlue flight at JFK Worldwide Airport in New York Metropolis because of a small fireplace in a passenger’s laptop computer on Saturday night, officers stated.
Officers from the FAA, JetBlue and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey stated the plane was taxing to a gate at Terminal 5 when a lithium battery in a passenger’s laptop computer caught fireplace, the New York Every day Information reported.
The fireplace was shortly extinguished by the crew of JetBlue Flight 662 from Bridgetown, Barbados.
First responders and the crew evacuated 67 folks from the Airbus A320 jet utilizing an emergency slide system. One other 60 passengers exited the airplane usually, the Port Authority stated.
